TAOISEACH Micheal Martin has tested negative for Covid-19 after coming into contact with Emmanual Macron.
The Fianna Fail leader was today limiting his movements after it emerged that the French president caught the virus.
The Taoiseach had been in contact with him at the European Council in Brussels last week.
However, after taking a test today, Martin’s results came back negative.
Martin was already tested for Covid-19 when he returned from Belgium but he took another test and limited his movements as a precaution.
The news has also prompted Spanish prime minister Pedro Sánchez, who met Macron on Monday, to suspend all his public activities and enter self-isolation.
The diagnosis comes just days after Macron hosted prime minister Pedro Sánchez at the Élysee Palace.
Sánchez’s office has now confirmed he will also enter a seven-day quarantine.
